Hundreds of thousands of Australian children are now eligible for a needle-free flu vaccination.

A free nasal spray flu vaccine is being offered to children in New South Wales... it's applied with one spray into each nostril.

It's also available in Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.

The rollout comes amid a decline in vaccination takeup across Australia, with data from the National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance showing just one in four children under five received a flu shot last flu season.
