NSW GPs to diagnose and treat ADHD.

There are calls for robust training for general practitioners in New South Wales diagnose and treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and clear the pathway to specialist care for complex presentations.

It comes as the states branch of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists welcomes an announcement by the government that will allow specialist GP's to diagnose ADHD in both adults and children - from March.

RANZCP says while the reforms address a significant gap in access to ADHD care in New South Wales, careful implementation will be critical.
